Soon I'm below 100 kilos. Great to weigh in both kilos and pounds for me, that way I can have new goals all the time! Reached 15 pounds today! Next goal double digits in kilos! Should reach that either tomorrow or on Sunday.

15 lbs in 22 days. Sick! And I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. If anything, I have to force myself to eat my daily calories. The general advice is to eat when you are hungry with LCHF, but I noticed I eat too little when I do. Much too little. The scale tells me it doesn't like when I "starve" myself. When I do, I either don't move or gain. The body knows better then my brain. And, I don't work out at all. I wanted to get past the initial transition period. Fatigue is a common side effect initially, when the body adjusts to fat instead of carbs. I'm starting to feel like I have passed that stage and have a lot more energy. Time to hit the gym!

I haven't been this excited or felt this good since I was in my early twenties!!!

LCHF Day 21: Weight loss today - none

Am I going to be worried? No. The first week I freaked out if the scale stood still, but I have learned now my body will do this in its own pace. Stick to the plan and my body will start trusting me. The body is not an oven, it doesn't burn at a 100% every day. The worst thing a dieter can do is cut down drastically on the calories to lose more. The body goes into starvation mode and you might even gain weight.

During World War II, in the Warsaw ghetto, the jews got rations of about 700-800 calories per day. If we go by the calories in calories out rule, they needed about 2000-2500 calories per day to maintain their weight if they had a sedentary lifestyle. The energy deficiency was therefore about 1700 calories. After about two years they should have lost about 375 lbs. Of course they didn't. They lost about 33 to 44 lbs. This proves the body has defense mechanisms against starvation. So those who think you will lose weight quicker if you go on a starvation diet, think again. Will not happen.

What will happen though, is that you will lose weight and most of it will be muscle. When the body goes in to starvation mode, it uses that which costs more energy first - the muscles. Muscles cost a lot of energy for the body - fat doesn't. Fat just sits there saved up for a rainy day or famine. And when you leave starvation mode, you regain your weight, but this time you regain fat, unless you work out to rebuild muscle. So you are back to square one, with the same weight and less muscle.

My advice? Eat healthy, and don't starve yourself.
